It's difficult to get a clear picture of what is happenign in Iran since protests in the financial district took place on October 3, 2010.
But a recent article in the Gulf Times dated October 10, 2012 is worth a read as it indicates that although shopkeepers and exchange bureaux have since reopened since the mass protests, they are doing little trade, such that the rial's plunge has not been stemmed.

A second recommendation is a report from Der Speigal originally that Iran mulls plans for a deliberate Gulf Oil spill which would have the West suspend sanctions to clean up the environmental disaster.
